Aphrodisiac Vodka - Love Hurts, British Inventor Reveals the Scientific Reasons O2 SPARKLING VODKA's Bubbles Will Arouse Your Passions

LONDON, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Philip Maitland, the British inventor of patented O2 Sparkling Vodka, attributes the inspiration for his invention to learning about the research work in 1998 and 1999 of Neurobiology Professor Earl Carstens and his colleagues at the University of California at Davis on fizzy drinks.

Professor Carstens discovered that when a sparkling drink is consumed, a chemical reaction occurs in the mouth resulting from the carbon dioxide in the bubbles. This further causes a mild pain reaction that sends signals to the brain and triggers the release of endorphins. (New Scientist, 19/26 December 1998 p. 5 and The Journal of Neuroscience, 15 September 1999, p. 8134)

Maitland's idea was to incorporate this pleasurable -- so good it hurts -- sensation in a world-class premium vodka.

"Making the vodka sparkling would set up a chain reaction leading to the release of endorphins, which make people feel good," says Maitland. "Too many bubbles and the vodka would be very harsh and unpleasant to drink, so the level of carbonation had to be carefully calibrated."

It took over two years to perfect the method to infuse the right volume and size of bubbles into the vodka which was granted a patent in 2003. (http://www.sparklingvodka.com/)

Shortly after O2 launched in Europe in 2002, the company received numerous emails from customers. They stated how much they had enjoyed the vodka and unexpectedly how they had felt very sensual and passionate afterwards.

"At first we didn't pay too much attention to the emails, but they soon grew in frequency, becoming a phenomena," explains Maitland.

As O2 is batch distilled to a special formulation of Wheat and Malted Barley, it was apparent that the vodka had developed some unique qualities in production which were enhanced by the bubbles.

"The resulting stimulation and excitement of O2 creates an electrifying arousal of the senses. It's not for the faint hearted," says Maitland.

O2 is available in Premium 80 proof, triple distilled and Super Premium 945, 94 proof and five times distilled in fine crystal glass bottles with a bespoke twist closure and is currently rolling out across the U.S.
