The Assumption Of A Relationship That Does Not Exist

Photo Credit: Jo Lamble: Letting Go Of A Bad Relationship.

The assumption of a relationship that does not exist is common among young men and women.

You see a guy claiming that a girl is his girlfriend, whereas the girl does not say so.
Or a girl assuming that she is in relationship with a guy, but the guy does not think so.

It is most common among naive, immature and insecure people.
Small boys and small girls have fought over their assumptions of relationships with others.

"She is my babe o," a local guy here will brag to his peers on campus or in the neighbourhood referring to a particular girl he likes. But he has no proof.
In most cases, he cannot even kiss her.
He is only day dreaming.

Others think having a fling means you are dating, but hello! Having a fling does not mean you are having a relationship.

If a girl likes you, that does not make her your girlfriend until she has agreed she is.

There is a mutual agreement in a relationship and if there is no agreement, there is no relationship.
Even a dalliance of romance does not mean a girl is your girlfriend or a guy is your boyfriend.

I have seen many scenarios of these ambiguous and erroneous assumptions among impressionable and vulnerable youths.
A mere peck, a casual hug or even sharing a bottle of drink is often mistaken for a love affair that does not exist.
I have seen even a guy killed over a girl he claimed to be his girlfriend and lost his precious life in a bloody fight with another guy. But her boyfriend was another guy far away from town.

I have seen a man spending lump sums of money on a girl he claims is his girlfriend until she tells him, "I have a boyfriend."

I have seen foolish girls on campus fighting over a guy who belongs to another girl off campus. grin

It is wise before asking a girl out to find out if she is already in relationship.
Even if she agrees to go out with you, beware of the consequences.
I have seen a man shot dead for sleeping with the estranged girlfriend of another man.
It is dangerous to fish in troubled waters.

I have seen a girl pour dangerous acid on another girl for dating her assumed "boyfriend".

Don't waste your life and time on the assumption of a relationship that does not exist.

A very wise young woman boldly asked a man to come out and say if he wanted to date her or out after he kept on sending her romantic text messages.
"Are you asking me to go out with you or what?"
The guy who was afraid of her refusing him was beating around the bush and she knew it.
Therefore, PLEASE, avoid and stop beating around the bush if you want to see the girl in the garden.
Be a MAN! Be bold enough to go straight to the point and let her know.
It is either YES or NO.
Don't be scared of rejection.
A rejection is better than an assumption.

It is foolish and not wise to waste your time and money on a relationship that does not exist.
While you are here day dreaming about her, she is having multiple orgasms with her REAL G(real guy.)

Rachel Mwanza "War Witch" Star on the Red Carpet at the 85th Academy Awards

Here is Congolese overnight Hollywood star Rachel Mwanza on the red carpet at the 85th Academy Awards.
She was accompanied by Director Kim Nguyen of "War Witch" nominated for the best foreign language film which was won by Michael Haneke's "Armour".

Rachel Mwanza is an actress from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, best known for her performance as Komona in the 2012 film Rebelle (War Witch).

Born in 1997 and abandoned by her parents as a child, Mwanza spent several years living as a street child in Kinshasa before being cast in Rebelle. She was cast in the film after director Kim Nguyen and producers Pierre Even and Marie-Claude Poulin saw her in a documentary film on the street kids of Kinshasa.[2] Due to her lack of education, she did not know how to read or write when she was first cast in the film; the filmmakers have since made arrangements to pay for her education and housing until she turns 18. In February 2013 she was granted a visa to allow her to attend the Academy Awards.

Her performance in Rebelle garnered her awards for Best Actress from the Berlin Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival[4] and the Vancouver Film Critics Circle in 2012, as well as a nomination for Best Actress at the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards.

In 2012, she appeared in her second film role, in Marc-Henri Wajnberg's Kinshasa Kids.

Best PictureWinner: Argo
Best Actor in a Leading RoleWinner: Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)
Best Actress in a Leading RoleWinner: Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)
Best DirectorWinner: Ang Lee (Life of Pi)

According to Reuters, Ben Affleck's Argo made it the first time since "Driving Miss Daisy" in 1990 that a film won the top prize at the Oscars without its director also being nominated. Argo also won the Oscars for best film editing and best adapted screenplay.

Well, we might as well call this year the Year of "Argo" as "Argo" has won almost all the coveted awards and winning the Best Picture Oscar when the director Ben Affleck was not even nominated for Best Director is a great achievement at the 85th Academy Awards by winning three Oscars for Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture, to add to the Golden Globe Awards for Best Picture in Drama and Best Director, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the 19th Screen Actors Guild Awards, Best Film and Best Editing at the 66th British Academy Film Awards.

British actor Daniel Day-Lewis also made history by being the first actor to win three Oscars for Best Actor as he won his third Best Actor award for playing the leading role of President Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's historical film "Lincoln" at the 85th Academy Awards. His other previous Oscars were for Christy Brown in "My Left Foot" (1989), Daniel Plainview in "There Will Be Blood" (2007). But this achievement does not make him a better or greater actor than Harrison Ford, Nicholson, Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins, CBE, Sir Michael Caine, CBE, Clinton "Clint" Eastwood, Jr, Denzel Washington, Marlon Brando and Dustin Hoffman

And also remarkable for Michael Haneke's "Armour" for winning the Oscar for Best Film in a Foreign Language after winning the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and best film in a non English language at the 66th British Academy Film Awards among other awards.

1. Best Picture: "Argo."
2. Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, "Lincoln."
3. Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, "Silver Linings Playbook."
4. Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, "Django Unchained."
5. Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway, "Les Miserables."
6. Directing: Ang Lee, "Life of Pi."

“Strides for Sandy Hook” 5k to Honor Newtown Victims, Community

“Strides for Sandy Hook” 5k to Honor Newtown Victims, Community

NEWTOWN, Conn. (February 19, 2013) /PRNewswire/ — In the wake of recent tragedy, the Newtown community came together to show the nation the true meaning of “Newtown strong.” It was inspiring to see such overwhelming support for a small, quiet town in the face of such extreme adversity.

The Strides for Sandy Hook 5k memorial run/walk was created as a way for local residents to continue the healing process. The 5k took place on Saturday, January 19, 2013. The unofficial community run honored the lives of victims lost in the December 14, 2012 tragedy. While there was a suggested donation of $25 for participants, any amount was accepted—no matter how big or small. Strides for Sandy Hook attracted nearly 200 walkers and runners and raised over $3,600 on January 19 alone. All donations and proceeds were given towards a memorial fund established by Newtown Parks and Recreation, the Newtown Park Gift Fund.

In just five days, the organizers of Strides for Sandy Hook following reached over 5,000 people between Facebook and Twitter sites. The website attracted 3,000 visitors on the second day alone. Strides for Sandy Hook reached hundreds of communities across the continent—Connecticut, the Carolinas, California, and even Canada.

These communities, though not in Newtown physically, hosted “satellite runs” of their own on January 19. Community runs in other areas of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York participated in a 5k which started at the same time as Newtown’s run/walk that morning. These communities also collected donations and sent the funds to the Newtown Park Gift Fund.

Strides for Sandy Hook was not held with the intention of being a competitive race; rather, participants were encouraged to come out with friends and family to run to remember and run to repair. It is important that we continue to remind each other what is important in these trying times: the community; the families; the memories; the strength of Newtown.

Visit www.StridesforSH5k.wordpress.com for additional information, updates, and ways to connect (Facebook, Twitter) or donate to the cause.

Two Thumbs Down To SNL Skit “Djesus Uncrossed”

"Such misrepresentation of what Jesus, peace be upon him, stands for is extremely offensive to Muslims and to all those who believe in his message. While we understand the use of shocking imagery and bizarre juxtapositions to provoke a humorous response, we believe such a distasteful portrayal of a religious figure revered by billions of Muslims and Christians worldwide crosses the comedic line.

"We strongly support free speech rights for all, but one would hope that common decency and respect for the beliefs of others would help avoid such unfortunate depictions.
"

~ Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), February 19, 2013.

The producers of the Saturday Night Live “Djesus Uncrossed” skit are low in imagination. Only lazy producers would have done such a satire that shows the poor imagination of the producers and misguided rationale. Any dummy could have done it and they deliberately picked on the personality of Jesus Christ, because they know that even if Christians find it offensive, there would be no violent protests or suicide bombings on the streets since our Lord and Messiah Jesus Christ preached and practiced that his believers and followers (Christians) should be peacemakers and not troublemakers.
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
(Matthew 5.44, Holy Bible).
And finally at his crucifixion, he prayed:
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
(Luke 23:34, Holy Bible).

This SNL spoof of Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” has only done more harm than good to the director and the movie and would cost Tarantino even more than the budget of his film in damage control of the inevitable backlash that will follow. He will lose the patronage of millions of piqued Christians and Muslims in America and the rest of the world, because to insult their greatest messenger of Truth is to insult their faith.

Two thumbs down to the SNL skit. It is mediocre.

"Doctor Bello" is the first film to be released under an exclusive theatrical distribution partnership between AMC Theatres and Black Ivory Communications, a multi-faceted media firm specializing in film production, entertainment, and tourism.

Coinciding with Black History Month, "Doctor Bello's" unprecedented theatrical release marks the first ever in the U.S. for Nollywood films -- the bustling Nigerian film Industry. The film's synopsis captivatingly states, "The cure for cancer has been found in the sky mountains of Africa, and an American oncologist will risk everything to get it."

"Showing a Nollywood film in American theaters not only proves the cross-marketability of the industry, but it clearly demonstrates that there is a niche market here, and we are pleased to partner with AMC to fulfill its demand," said Abulu, the award-winning filmmaker who also produced and directed "Crazy Like a Fox" and "American Dream."

"Having recognized Nollywood as a rapid growing industry, AMC is pleased to not only provide a platform for sharing more socially and culturally relevant stories, but to respond to the feedback from our diverse guest base," said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president of alternative and special content.

The film will open at AMC Theatres across the United States in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Jacksonville, Columbus (OH), Chicago, Detroit, and Los Angeles.

Farewell Golden Girl of Nigerian Hip Hop

Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey aka Goldie Harvey suddenly died on Valentine's Day at the Reddington Hospital on Victoria Island, Lagos, after she returned from the 55th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 10, 2013, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Let us celebrate the life she lived for that is what matters most to the living.
What lessons can we learn from her life for the lessons will help us to appreciate the values and virtues of life in a country where most people prefer to live in fallacy and hypocrisy and wickedness.

Every second counts and every breath is precious.
Don't gamble or waste it in ignorance of true love for in true love is our life fulfilled for the glory of God our maker.

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom
.

~ Psalm 90:12 (New International Version)

PROFILE OF SUSAN OLUWABIMPE ‘GOLDIE’ HARVEY

Growing up in a family where music was virtually the only bright spot in a tripartite existence that revolved round home, school and church, it did not come as much surprise that Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey now known as Goldie chose to be a singer, songwriter and performer.

If it was to give vent to a childhood social denial, available indices indicate that Goldie is making a resounding success of her career choice. If it was to prove to her hitherto unbending dad that her sometimes rebellious streak as a teen was just a quest for her true essence, she has equally succeeded. And everybody must indeed be very proud of this young lady because less than five years into her musical odyssey, the crown of Nigeria’s nonpareil pop diva now nestles snugly on her golden mane.

Since her emergence onto the pop culture radar a few years ago, Goldie has cut large swaths though the fields of musical accomplishments; exemplifying a special conception of musical heroine who can say or show anything while providing a view of the bold, confrontational and liberated woman. Colourful and cerebral, Goldie’s musical strength and depth, sensuality and serenity have appropriated her as the high water mark that other female singers have to live up to. Add to that mix the fact that the multiple awards-winning singer has created a smouldering, public persona that borders on the eccentric and eclectic, otherwise creative and precise, but engaging enough to keep you talking about her. Despite the mixed reactions to her musical style and outré outlook, Goldie has fitted perfectly into the role of Nigeria’s most consistent female performer of the moment.

EARLY LIFE

Indeed, in the case of talent and passion, the apple does not fall too far away from the tree. Goldie was born In the early 80s to very educated and successful parents – her mum, late Mrs. Olabisi Betty from the illustrious Olaiya family in Ijebu, Ogun State was a former managing director in a bank, while her dad, a native of Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State, also retired as a director in a new generation bank. He is now into full time clerical works in Lagos. The first of four kids, Goldie’s education began at the Green Springs Montessori Primary School and then St. John's College, Palm Grove, Lagos where Christian Religious Knowledge, she said, was her favourite subject because she didn’t have to study too hard to pass it. In fact, by the age of 10, she already knew so many bible verses that belied her age.

She recalled, “My childhood was very interesting but regimented. My Dad was a leader in church and very active too while my mum used to lead the choir. So, as their first child, I took very active roles in all church activities – drama, choir, bible classes and so on. Church was the only social life we had. On Mondays, we went for bible classes; Wednesdays were for prayer meetings and then one Friday in a month, we went for vigil. I never had toys or friends because my father thought they would lead me astray." Thus, her mum was her closest friend. However, the bond that held mother and daughter together snapped irretrievably in 1994.

LOSING HER MUM

Goldie described her mum as a woman of high intellectual and moral values. “She was the first to have a scholarship in her family. She was an avid reader and had a lot of certificates and degrees.” Every night, when every other person had gone to bed, Goldie and her mum would stay up chit-chatting and watching television. She was the only friend Goldie had. But she died too soon after a long-drawn battle with cancer, leaving behind four kids. “It was a traumatic experience for me especially because it was like losing my only friend and confidant. I cried bitterly and even up till now, over a decade later, the pain of her demise has not left me.” Goldie is however consoled that she now has another mum in her step-mother who she describes as God-sent.

FORAY INTO MUSIC

A prodigious kid with a strong flair for the arts and everything creative, Goldie recalled drawing sketches of anything that caught her fancy but whenever her dad saw her drawing, he would tear it, asking rather erroneously how many people have achieved outstanding success in arts. This however did not deter the blithely ambitious young lady from wanting to give vent to her dreams because like the cliché goes, music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent. Goldie had found music through the prism of divas like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton. And even at that age, she was already learning the style and nuances of pop, even emulating Braxton’s style of keeping her side burns oiled.

At that time too, it had become pretty obvious that Goldie was an embryonic diva. “I’d been flirting with music all my life. I don’t remember exactly how old but I was incredibly young when I knew that I’d go into some form of entertainment. Everybody who knew me back then knew that I could sing because I was always singing in school or church; I’ve always had that artistic flair.” So, when she got to the UK where she had been admitted to study Business Management at the University of Sunderland, she and a couple of friends formed an informal group which performed for friends and family. The group even did a couple of demos which never really made it out.

GOING PROFESSIONAL

Interestingly, Goldie’s return to Nigeria in the mid-2000s did not quite signal an immediate take-off for her career. Rather, she concentrated on building her date-reminder services business. In the course of this, she needed to do a jingle and was introduced to Mani of Cool FM who bowled her over with his production aplomb. They talked about music and what they’d like to achieve. The young lady evinced unadulterated passion and determination which prompted Mani to introduce her to industry players. Then, she met renowned producer, OJB Jezreel who would produce her first single, Komole. This was followed by three other singles Spin Me, Nothing has Changed, and Shift, which all formed part of her compilation CD. Since then, there has been no stopping her. Through the turbulence, drudgery and seeming imperviousness of the music industry, Goldie held her own, talent for talent, and creativity for creativity. After a tentative management deal in 2009, Goldie was signed on to Nigeria’s foremost music label, Kennis Music in 2010.

A few months later, she released her debut album, Gold, which given Nigerians’ apathy towards pop music, has been a critical success. The album exudes the audacity and flamboyance of Goldie, and has spewed a couple of provocative, smart, and infectious videos; You Know It, JawoJawo and DTMB (Don’t Touch My Body) The 3 songs are now certified street anthems with increasing followership. “For me, the clothing, the props, and the creative direction must be properly coordinated because I want my fans to have very specific imagery in their head when they're listening to the music and watching the accompanying video.” Continuing, she says, “Entertainment as a whole has gone visual. The best way to sell yourself and your music is to make a video… I will say for the record though, that I love shooting music videos, that’s one of the highlights of being in my profession; I like bringing my fantasies to life. A good music video is just one of the many ways to do this.” Little wonder, the video for ‘You Know it’ won the best female video at the 2010 SoundCity Music Video Awards and also picked the award for best use of costume at the Nigerian Music Video Awards; while DTMB picked up best Afro Pop video at the 2011 Nmva’s.

TRIVIA

A movie buff and avid reader, when Goldie is not in the comfort of her home, she is making good music at the Kennis Music Studio. Though a nocturnal person, you can hardly find Goldie at Night clubs because she believes in channelling such hours into creative engagements.

ACCOLADES

Goldie is an ambassador of Project Alert, a world renowned not for profit organisation aimed at advocating Zero tolerance to all forms of violence against women and young girls. You Don't Have To Borrow Or Steal For Valentine Gifts For Your Sweethearts

Supermarkets are stocking various Valentine gifts, but many of them are just too expensive for majority of guys and babes who as we know now are really financially challenged in Nigeria and most of them are unemployed. Therefore they cannot afford expensive Valentine gifts for their sweethearts.

This is the time to humble girlfriends that are too demanding.
Of course wise boys and men avoid dating covetous and greedy girls and women who don't care how guys make their money to impress them and the day the good times stop, these greedy babes move on to more buoyant men. And lest we forget, they don't care about love and sacrifices. They just want to suck you dry like vampires.

Don't let any girlfriend make you borrow or even steal for Valentine.
Valentine is even one of the best times to know who truly loves you or not and the best gift for Valentine is the priceless gift of pure and true love and it is more precious than diamond, gold or any other precious gem.
And lest we forget true love is not free, because it comes with the greatest sacrifice, the sacrifice of a life time. True love can cost you your life like in Romeo and Juliet and the greatest love sacrifice of all, God sacrificing His only begotten son for our sakes. That is why the Holy Bible said, "His love surpasses all knowledge", because nothing else compares to His love. And today is Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) when all Roman Catholic Christians begin fasting and praying, the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. And any true Roman Catholic Christian will not abuse and misuse the St. Valentine's Day by messing around night clubs and any dalliance of carnal romance.
The Lent will definitely affect the way Roman Catholics will spend their Valentine's Day.

If you must give Valentine gifts, low budget Valentine gifts are available on the streets and mini supermarkets in Lagos from as little as N1, 000 (about $8) and trust me they are very sweet gifts such as lingerie, fragrances, flowers, teddy bears, chocolates, love scarves, handkerchiefs, mugs, etc.
With only N3, 000 you can get long lasting precious and sweet Valentine gifts for your sweethearts and hello, lest you forget, your sweethearts include children too.
