They Tell Lies Upon Lies

They Tell Lies Upon Lies

I have been pondering
As I have been wondering
How they roll and twist their forked tongues
They twist their tongues in intrigues.

Croaking frogs in the misty swamp
Howling dogs in the shanty camp.

The fools thought they could fool me
But I could see what they could not see
Their fallacy and their hypocrisy
Their conceit and deceit
These mosquitoes and flies
They tell lies upon lies.

March 22, 1999.
