3,300,000 People Have HIV/AIDS in Nigeria

3,300,000 people have HIV/AIDS in Nigeria and over 220,000 have died so far.

In Nigeria, the HIV prevalence rate among adults ages 15–49 is 3.9 percent. Nigeria has the third-largest number of people living with HIV. The HIV epidemic in Nigeria is complex and varies widely by region. In some states, the epidemic is more concentrated and driven by high-risk behaviors, while other states have more generalized epidemics that are sustained primarily by multiple intimate partnerships in the general population. Youth and young adults in Nigeria are particularly vulnerable to HIV, with young women at higher risk than young men.

Nigerian TV and radio stations promote high risk behaviour among Nigerian youths by playing psychedelic and pornographic music videos to encourage vulnerable Nigerian girls and boys to indulge in promiscuous relationships as serial daters and lovers and the sexploitation of Nigerian girls and women is very rampant. And prostitution is common among Nigerian girls and women who hardly go for HIV tests and don't use condoms.
