When the Poet Falls in Love

When the Poet Falls in Love

When the poet falls in love
It is as crystal as the fountain in the park
And the poet sings like the skylark
The pen drips of honey as words flow from his heart
He dances away from anything that will upset his apple cart
He can even walk over hot coals without feeling any pain
And he is ready to go running to her in the torrential rain.
When the poet falls in love.

When the poet falls in love
Do not be surprised to see him thinking aloud happily on the street
Do not be surprised to hear him grinning and tapping his feet
As he wears his heart on the sleeves of his sweatshirt
And if he cannot hold her waist, he is happy to grab her skirt.
He will promise her heaven on earth in the Eldorado of his fantasy
And even when the honeymoon is over he is still enraptured in ecstasy.
When the poet falls in love.
