The gala featured a fashion show of swimwear by Cascata Blu paired with African-inspired jewelry created and donated by Canadian designers. Guests were entertained by live music including Krystaal and the BCL African drummers.
After a visit together to A Hi Kulene, a World Vision Area Development Program in Mozambique, event hosts Joan Kelley and Don Walker committed to raising awareness of World Vision Canada and to find sponsors for the hundreds of children and orphans of the area. The sponsorship will help build schools, health care facilities, teach better farming strategies and set up an infrastructure that will allow independence, along with all the other benefits that child sponsorship offers. The couple personally matched donations at the event, of up to $150,000. Canadians can visit worldvision.ca to sponsor a child or find out more about World Vision programs.
