Men More than Women Willing to Give Marriage a Second Chance

Men more than women willing to give marriage a second chance

Poll of Single Online Daters Unveils Who Would Take Another Trip Down the Aisle

MIAMI BEACH, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sean Penn, Nicholas Cage, Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore, and Jennifer Garner have all taken a second trip down the aisle. While the current divorce rate is at its lowest since 1970, still one third of Americans who have ever married have divorced at least once. With wedding season starting at the end of the month, leading online dating websites Date.com (www.date.com), Matchmaker.com (www.matchmaker.com), and Amor.com (www.amor.com), polled its members to see who would be willing to give marriage a second chance after a divorce.

"We were shocked to see the overwhelming response by men willing to take another shot at marriage after a divorce, while women were less inclined to make the commitment twice," said Shira Zwebner, Relationship Advisor for Date.com, Matchmaker.com and Amor.com. "These results show just how much women's attitudes towards love and marriage have evolved over the years. Today, women are content being in a loving and committed relationship that doesn't involve a trip to City Hall, whereas men need the security of an official marriage to validate the relationship. And, with celebrity role model couples like Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, today's women are confident that their committed relationships no longer have to be State or Religiously sanctioned to be everlasting."

In a new nationwide survey of thousands of male and female online daters, ranging in ages from 18-55+, we asked: Harrison Ford finally proposed to Calista Flockhart after seven and a half years of dating! When it comes to second time around, is marriage these days necessary?

Following are the complete results:

Men

Yes 65.4%
No 23.1%
Only if adoption of children are involved 7.7%
Only if the couple is younger than 55 3.8%

Women

No 40.6%
Yes 28.1%
Only if the couple is younger than 55 18.8%
Only if adoption of children are involved 15.6%

One in Five Newlywed Couples Don't Consummate Their Marriage According to New AreYouRomantic.com Poll

One in Five Newlywed Couples Don't Consummate Their Marriage According to New AreYouRomantic.com Poll

- Survey Shows First Night As Man and Wife Not Always a Romantic Honeymoon Kick-Off -

LAKEVILLE, Pa., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- One in five couples admit to not consummating the marriage on their wedding night, according to a recent "Happy Honeymoon?" poll from AreYouRomantic.com. The survey, commissioned by Caesars Pocono Resorts, asked married men and women about their newlywed romantic activities: from honeymoon planning to couples activities to the importance of marital tradition. The poll determined that while a small number of couples seem to prefer the new and innovative, most couples still value tradition in post-nuptial travel planning.

According to the "Happy Honeymoon?" poll, most couples do "seal the deal" on their wedding night, however, it was discovered that almost a fifth of newlyweds don't. Why? Blame the open bar, lack of sleep and "natural" concerns.

-- The reasons why they didn't:
- 32 percent said that they (or their partner) were too tired
- 14 percent said that they (or their partner) had too much to drink
(Women chose this answer twice as often as men did!)
- 11 percent said that family and friends were still around
(Men chose this answer more than five times more often than woman.)
- 10 percent said that it wasn't important to them.

-- The good, the bad and the ugly: The list of free-response answers why
couples didn't consummate the marriage on their wedding night was
topped by "that time of the month."
- Our respondents also mentioned:
"He was playing blackjack all night." (Who does that?)
"Too much sake and sushi consumed." (Yum, but yikes)
"It was consummated MANY TIMES before." (notice the caps!)

Despite some couples' lack of indulgence in traditional wedding night bliss, most newlyweds still incorporate tradition into their honeymoon planning.

-- 67 percent of people wouldn't bypass the wedding reception to head
right to the honeymoon.
- Both men and woman answered equally.

-- An overwhelming number (70 percent) of brides and grooms still pay for
the honeymoon themselves, despite the recent changes in traditional
honeymoon financial roles (honeymoon registries, parental gifts, etc.)
- But, we learned that the honeymoons of newly married couples have
been affected by recent economic issues with nearly half (more than
44 percent) answering that "financial constraints" kept them from
doing everything they wanted to on their honeymoon.

A Sunday To Love

I had a beautiful time in church this Sunday rejoicing with the new converts who were baptized at the Assemblies of God Church in Finima, Bonny Island. Everyone looked happy and I would have loved to kiss many of the sweethearts I saw in church today.

I left the church in the company of my brother-in-law and his lovely children whose beauty attracts attention whenever they are in public. They have the starry eyes with long eyelashes and silky eyebrows like their beautiful mother, my younger sister who looks like our parents and me. God made us beautiful. I have left my hair to grow, because I want to dye it brown to compliment the color of my brown skin. I have to pose for my photographer when I get to Lagos for the press photographs I need for the publicity of my new book and I am working on the first recording of my spiritual chants in English, Igbo and Latin for a singles CD I hope to release for the Christmas.

I saw the first woman I knew when I came to Bonny Island, Henrietta, the black, beautiful, and well-endowed young spy police officer at the Nigeria LNG RA 1 Visitors Center. I have not seen her since the christening of her baby over a month ago. I was so happy to see her that I forgot my small purse while I was chatting with her as she renewed my guest pass. I never realized that I forgot the purse until I got to the residence of my brother-in-law. I called the Nigeria LNG RA 1 Visitors Center and she told me that a Caucasian expatriate found it and handed it over to her. I went to collect it and returned to the house.

Continued below...

Henrietta told me that our lovely friend Ngowari has left her job as a spy police officer at the Nigeria LNG Limited and relocated to the UK. I have advised her to do so last year, because she would be more comfortable and better appreciated in the company of her family living in London. She is such a lovely young woman with beautiful dreams.

I asked Henrietta to pray to God to give Ngowari a good husband as He has done for her. Henrietta’s husband is one of the few good men most women are praying to marry and she was very happy to introduce him to me three years ago when I wanted her to play a leading role in my proposed documentary on the Niger Delta crisis, Winds of Fire.
“His name is Harrison,“ she told me proudly and I nodded approvingly.
We shook hands warmly and always exchanged greetings whenever we saw each other inside and outside the Nigeria LNG RA 1.

I hope Ngowari will find the man who will love and do his best for her and cherish her beautiful dreams.
The man who loves you truly will also love your dreams and help you to fulfill your dreams for your mutual benefit.
I know that Ngowari will be fulfilled in the UK.

I love Sundays, because of going to fellowship and to worship God with fellow Christians in their Sunday best and chatting with special people like Mrs. Henrietta Harrison at the Visitors Center of the Nigeria LNG RA 1.
It has been a beautiful Sunday.

100 Essential Questions to Ask Before You Say "I Do"

Photo: Black Weddings

I am happy to see happy couples and unhappy to see unhappy couples.

You can prevent a million and one matrimonial headaches and heartaches if you spend more time in asking the most important questions as listed in The Hard Questions: 100 Essential Questions to Ask Before You Say "I Do"

The author is a woman who has been there and knows the truth from her long years of experience in romance and marriage.

"Had I known" is very common on the lips of most couples. But you can save yourself from the headache and heartbreak of unhappiness with your marriage if ask the questions that must be asked before walking down the aisle to tie the knots and vow for better or worse.

You should know everything about your future life partner to prevent a rude awakening one day and wonder how you have found yourself married to a monster!

"Our home is the most immediate expression of who we are and how we view life."
~ Susan Piver

It is too late to cry when your delicate heart is already broken after you are married.
It would be in your best interest to lay all the cards on the table, including all the jokers without hiding any in your briefs or under the table.

You should not keep anything secret about your life and family from your future life partner, because if he or she truly loves you enough to marry you, then your secrets should no longer remain secret before the wedding day.

Michael Webb sent me the true confession of a woman who married a man she is now regretting that she even slept with him!
Do not be shy or afraid to ask The Hard Questions before you say "I Do".

Dustin Hoffman Has a Secret

Q: Can you say what the secret of a long marriage is?

A: There's so much about marriage that's unnatural. I don't think it's natural to be monogamous, to be as in love as you were the day before. But does fidelity make sense? Yes. And I don't think that you can substitute honesty in any relationship.

Mariah Carey Weds Rapper Nick Cannon, But Anna Kournikova Refuses To Wed Enrique Iglesias

Mariah Carey is happy to marry again.

While Mariah Carey was getting married to actor/rapper Nick Cannon at her home in the Bahamas, former tennis superstar turned super model, Anna Kournikova was not ready to tie the knots, because Anna turned down the marriage proposal of her steady boyfriend, the celebrated singer, Enrique Iglesias.

Anna Kournikova loves Enrique Iglesias, but she is not ready to be his wife.

They have been dating for three years and she is not ready to say "I do".
Enrique should not force Anna to marry him, because if a man makes a woman to be under pressure to marry him, and she gives in to make him happy, their marriage will not be rosy, because one of them may end up unhappy in marriage. Mariah Carey can confirm this from the disappointment she had in her first unsuccessful marriage. Marriage is best when the man and woman are both happy to wed. You cannot be really happy in marriage if you were only persuaded into it.

Enrique is cool.

Enrique should be patient and wait until Anna is ready if he truly loves her.
Like in my poem, True Love Waits, I said you do not have to be in a hurry and you don't have to worry, because what will be yours would be yours eventually.
Relax and keep on loving her. It would be a terrible mistake to stop loving her, because she refused to marry you. It would be better to remain single and happy than to be married and be unhappy.

Enrique and Anna in the musical video of "Escape".

Enrique must have fallen in love with Anna during the making of his hot and steamy video of "Escape".

Anna Kournikova shows what she has to spin any man around her.

Anna knows she is pretty and sexy and many men want her. In fact, I know that there are many men out there who are happy to know that she has turned down the marriage proposal of Enrique, because they want to date her after him.

When a man is in love with a beautiful woman, he should know that he is not the only one who wants her.

Anna is a beauty in bikini or full dress.

"I always try, but she pays me no attention," Enrique said.

Cheer up my guy, do not let Anna or any other woman break your heart.
If Anna is not the one meant for you, do not worry. Your true love will be waiting for you somewhere and you will meet her one fine day.

Love is a Figure of Speech

Love is a Figure of Speech

You came to me in the robes of Cyclamen
But how can I bring you a bouquet of red chrysanthemums?
When I have not found any white chrysanthemums in the bouquet of your heart?
Do not pluck the petals of my pure daisies with your eyes closed, lest you would be fooled by your wild guesses.
Because, you do not need to set your foot on twelve daisies before you can see the dawn of your spring
I will give you neither white nor red daisies after the last swallow of summer has flown away from your alcove, lest your dreams of them in autumn leave you heartbroken in winter.
In my wanderlust quest for Ivy
I did not find you in the bloom of Orange Blossom or in Lemon Blossom
But I found you entangled in the paphiopedilum orchids of Phaphos with a garland of Peach Blossom dangling from your ringed neck
Like a rose entangled in your own thorns
Then I disentangled you before I led you to the lyceum of my Muses
They welcomed you with the petals of Apple Blossom cast at your bleeding feet. They wiped your tears away with the golden petals of yellow roses and bathed you in the pool of the Coral Rose.
They covered you with the Peach Rose and led you into the bed of my Rose of Persia before I came to you with my bouquet of the white Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley.

~ Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima

Love is the most common word in relationships, but it is also the most abused and misused by humans in their search for love.

A suitor promises the nubile maiden heaven on earth and other fantastic things in his pursuit of winning her hand in marriage. She believes him and they later get married after courtship. Their marriage looks unbreakable, but only time will tell how long they will last.

I have seen beautiful and wonderful couples and they are the models of the ideal marriage.

They can face the challenges of marriage and remain faithful to their matrimonial vows, no matter what happens.

The marriage will determine the future of the family, because marriage is the foundation of the family.

I believe the kind of marriage you have will decide the success or failure of your family in the society.

A well-planned marriage will have a well-planned family and a well-planned family will never be a poor family.

A well-planned marriage starts from courtship and not after the successful wedding. You must know what kind of life partner you want and what kind of partnership you want to establish for a successful life. It would be foolish for a hardworking man to marry a lazy woman or for a hardworking woman to marry a lazy man.

Being pretty and sexy is not beneficial if the woman is not productive at home and at work. The richest woman in the world did not make it by having a pretty face. In fact, the not so pretty, but hardworking and smart woman has ended up very successful and sending the pretty, but less productive and dumb blonde on errands.

The poor state of the Nigerian government can be traced to the upbringing of the public office holders in the corridors of power.
What are their family backgrounds?
What kind of families are they from?
What kind of marriages produced them?

The political problems of Nigeria are sociological.

If you are from a disciplined home, you cannot end up in the stagnant pool of corruption.

The pastor of the Christ Embassy Church on Bonny Island said, parents are responsible for the character development of their children.
What kind of parents breed criminals in the public and private sectors?

Love is the key to good parenting.
True love and not the fake love based on the bargains you make with your partners.

In Eastern Nigeria, every bride has a price and men marry only the women they can afford to pay the bride price. The brides from upper class families cost more while the brides from the lower class cost less.
The suitors are the bidders and the highest bidder often wins the hand of the most attractive bride. But there are exceptions when love decides who should marry the bride.

The brides fall in love with the suitors they have chosen to marry, but their love hardly comes cheap. It has a price tag.

The romantic love celebrated in many Western movies and books hardly become a reality in Eastern Nigeria, even though millions of the singles have the common romantic fantasy of the tall and handsome man winning the heart of the pretty and sexy damsel. They do fall in love or in lust in the higher institutions as long as the male student playing Romeo has bright prospects of graduating and getting a dream job to earn a good salary to afford to marry the Juliet of his dreams, otherwise she would end up in the arms of another suitor who may never look like the hunk on the cover of one of the Barbara Cartland's romantic novels. That is why many of the pretty campus girls from Eastern Nigeria got married to the rich traders in Onitsha, Aba, Lagos, and Kano while their campus boyfriends were still composing applications for jobs. But these marriages of convenience have produced dysfunctional families, because the couples are not often the ideal partners. While she is reading the Financial Times or Vogue, he is gazing at the almanac of the new chiefs in his village. She ends up with unfulfilled dreams, because in most cases she would be forced to give up her tall ambition and submit to his dictates and wits. They are intellectually poles apart. Therefore their children are often caught in-between the contrasting values and virtues of their parents.

These dysfunctional families have not produced the best in human capital development in Nigeria. They have produced Average Joes and Janes.

When the man and woman who are truly in love marry, they produce the best in their family, because they are living and working in the synergy of their love.

Couples in love have been found to be the most productive with stable families and stable jobs.

TO BE CONTINUED LATER.

Could Divorce Destroy Your Business?

6 Feb 2008 09:00 Africa/Lagos

Could Divorce Destroy Your Business?

LONDON, February 6/PRNewswire/ --

2008 will be the "Year of the Postnup", according to family law specialists at online law firm, Agreements.co.uk, following a string of cases indicating judicial support for private agreements regulating finances within marriage. This January, Lord Justice Thorpe ruled that couples who try to back out of private financial agreements are now stuck with them unless they can show good cause why they should not be followed.

Like prenups, post-nuptial agreements deal with the difficult issue of how to divide money and property if a marriage goes sour, but are taken out during marriage rather than before. However postnups are subject to particular judicial scrutiny as to motive - spouses making threats if not signed, inducements if signed, those taking unfair advantage or trying to divorce on the cheap need not apply.

With the divorce courts' starting point now being an equal split - a worrying prospect for ex-Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, who stands to lose a fortune if his divorce goes to trial - lawyers are reporting an unprecedented demand from couples taking out both prenups and postnups to soften the financial impact of divorce.

Postnups are even insisted upon by some hedge fund managers who now refuse to take on new partners until they sign one barring their spouses from making any claims on the fund.

Business is rife with risk - whether from competition, market fluctuations or plain bad luck. But what is often overlooked is the effect divorce has on a successful business. Usually funding a divorce settlement necessitates the sale of some or all of a business to accommodate the 50/50 share of overall assets that the courts now impose within divorce.

So could your business be wiped out by divorce? Statistically, in the UK, you are more likely to divorce than to stay married for life. So the bad news for any divorcing entrepreneurs is that your spouse may be entitled to half or more of the value of your business - irrespective of whether it was yours before marriage.

However there are legal solutions that the courts are now following (subject to following the correct protocols). The 'prenup' (taken out before marriage) and the 'postnup' (during).

Website, postnups.co.uk, puts prospective clients through a rigorous online 'Post-nuptial Agreement Evaluation' to ascertain their motives before agreeing to draft a postnup. "The courts have spelled out what they won't accept, and unless a couple's motives tick all the right boxes, we cannot agree to act", explains Mark Andrew, their Agreements Coordinator.

So what's the cost of having a postnup? Between GBP1,500 and GBP3,000 from most family law solicitors, and GBP450.00 online at http://www.postnups.co.uk (Tel: 0800-1955500)

The Unfaithful Bride

The Unfaithful Bride
This a true life story still in progress in Nigeria.

A young single woman was having an affair with a married man before she got engaged to the man who wants to marry her. They have fixed the date for their wedding and she is looking forward to a happy married life, but she wants to continue sleeping with her married lover until her wedding day. The married lover has refused to continue sleeping with her and she has been fuming and sulking.

Would it not be good to let the ignorant groom know about this unfaithful bride?

It is better and safer to remain single if you know you cannot be faithful wife.

Marriage is not compulsory.

It is better not to be married than be married and be divorced.

Hopeless Love As A Metaphor for Despair

Hopeless Love As A Metaphor for Despair

I have been more of a spectator of the different scenarios of the drama of life, as I watch more in amusement than bewilderment, how humans live through the existential realities of life on earth, their battle of wits and instincts to create an ideal society in the development and advancement of human civilization.

I often brood and ponder over how humans act and react in different circumstances and the influences of these circumstances form their experiences in their development in a particular environment.

The culture of nature is full of imperfections and malfunctions as human inhibitions and laws contradict the natural dispositions of their instincts.

All humans are naturally romantic and erotic creatures and respond to their stimuli for sexual pleasures as they thirst for water or want food. But the question of right and wrong causes disruptions as they continue to make corrections to balance the equations of life on earth.

Here is one of my case studies in Lagos, Nigeria.

She is hopelessly in love with an older man since she knew him when she was only six. Now she is 19 and her heart still beats faster whenever she sees him. Her parents like him and he respects them. They see him as a very disciplined and kind uncle, but she wants him to be her lover. She feels intimidated in his company as he is often surrounded by a bevy of beauties, white and black and she would feel outshined by the older women. No day passes that she does not wish to be wrapped in his arms. He has left and ignored her and she has dated boys of her age group, but she has lost interest in them and now feels guilty that she gave her virginity away to one of these boys. She wants Jimmy to love her as he would love his older women, but she is afraid of going to him without what he advised her to preserve till marriage. At 18, she was still a virgin and offered herself to him and thought he would be anxious and curious to deflower her, but he politely declined and did not even embrace or kiss her. She could not believe he would reject her. She has tried to ignore him and forget him, but she has failed. She does not hide anything from him, she gave him access to her only e-mail account, just to show him how honest, and transparent she is. Her parents know she loves him, but they are afraid that he will not marry her even though he has not married any of his numerous female companions who cannot stop loving him. They pray their daughter to find a suitable suitor and get over her passion for Jimmy, but she knows they can never stop the festering thoughts of her unfulfilled love for the only man who makes her feel the depth of her being.

Married To Iraq

I love the cover of the latest edition of Newsweek and the cover story is a must read.

The war in Iraq has produced thousands of young American widows and fatherless and motherless children; and more thousands of lonely wives and girlfriends whose husbands and boyfriends are risking their precious lives in the erroneous war in Iraq.

The October 22 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, October 15), "Married to Iraq" delves into the strikingly few marriages between soldiers serving in Iraq and civilians, compared to previous wars. Couples untied in Iraq share their compelling stories of how they overcame religious and cultural differences and endured months and years of waiting for visas. Plus: Blackwater's Erik Prince discusses the company's role in Iraq and its future.

Did Spears Beat Federline?....

Did Spears Beat Federline?....

Britney Spears can add husband beater to her shameful resume, if new reports surrounding ex-husband Kevin Federline are to be believed.

Insiders claim a court-imposed order for Spears not to use corporal punishment on the couple's sons stem from claims Federline has made that he was attacked by his wife during their two-year marriage.

A source tells America's Life & Style magazine, "Kevin asked for that (in the custody case) because he's sacred she'll hit the kids... Kevin says she hit him several times during their marriage."

But a Spears source tells the magazine, "This is just another attempt to make Britney look like a bad mom.".

Female First

Okay K-Fed is just calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Britney is not a bitch!
She may not be the best mom in the world, but she is not a bully!
She needs help on motherhood. She is just having some issues and these issues can be solved in the long run.
