The authoritative Live Science journal has released a groundbreaking report that lovers and spouses who fight actually live longer than those who bottle up their anger in silence.
According to the report:
A good argument with your spouse could be just what the doctor ordered.
Preliminary results from a survey of married couples suggest that disputing husbands and wives who hold in their anger die earlier than expressive couples.
"When couples get together, one of their main jobs is reconciliation about conflict," said researcher Ernest Harburg, professor emeritus with the University of Michigan School of Public Health and Psychology Department. "Usually nobody is trained to do this. If they have good parents, they can imitate, that's fine, but usually the couple is ignorant about the process of resolving conflict."

I am not surprised by this report, because I have always been more of an expressionist than an impressionist. I belive in open but non-violent expression of my feelings, protesting wrong things, etc. Because, it would be better and healthier to spit out the nonsense than let it choke you to death!
The sooner you let it out of your system, the better for you. No hypocritical pretence in romance like most pretenders do in conceit and deceit.
Keeping mute when you are boiling inside does not help you at all. Self control does not mean you should not speak the truth by speaking out what is really bothering you, hurting or even threatening your precious life. Even the Holy Bible said you could be angry, but sin not. Being silent is not the best resolution, because bottled up emotions actually make you ill and can kill you slowly and would do worse damage one fateful day.
The silent treatment is an irrational form of emotional abuse as clearly illustrated on ABUSE 101.
"I believe the silent treatment (feigned apathy; cold-shoulder; silence; distance, and ignoring you) is the worst form of emotional abuse," said the writer on the grave consequences of the Silent Treatment.
Express your anger in a non-violent way and live longer.
