Jakob Dylan 'Women and Country'

New album set for release on April 6th marks reunion with producer T Bone Burnett and features guest vocals from Neko Case & Kelly Hogan

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Jakob Dylan will release his sophomore solo album, Women and Country, on Columbia Records on April 6th, 2010. Soulful yet striking and ripe with sublime beauty, Women and Country is the follow up to the artist's 2008 critically acclaimed debut, Seeing Things. This new collection finds him reuniting with acclaimed Grammy and Golden Globe winning producer T Bone Burnett (Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Crazy Heart), who produced the Wallflowers' 1996 breakthrough album Bringing Down the Horse. On the release, Jakob is also joined by Neko Case and Kelly Hogan, who provide back-up vocals to 8 of the album's 11 tracks.

"I'm so happy to be collaborating with Jakob at this exciting and vital time in his life as an artist," said T Bone Burnett. "I think this new album is an important work from a great musician."

Recorded in Los Angeles, CA, Women and Country is the full realization of a journey Jakob Dylan began on his previous solo release Seeing Things, which hearkens back to the timeless artistry of American roots music and country blues masters. Seeing Things garnered significant critical praise for Dylan including The Los Angeles Times who called him "a gifted storyteller" and USA Today who said the release was "an evocative acoustic album that reveals the poetic grace of his lyrics and the maturity and moving power of his voice." On Women and Country Jakob reaches new majestic heights with his voice and song-writing that are as distinct as. This, coupled with T Bone Burnett's haunting production and the stirringly rich vocals by Neko Case and Kelly Hogan, creates a powerful and melancholic experience for the listener.

Backing Jakob Dylan up on the album's 11 songs are T Bone Burnett's s acclaimed group of musicians including Dennis Crouch (bass), Jay Bellerose (drums), David Mansfield (fiddle & mandolin), Marc Ribot (guitar), Keefus Ciancia (keyboards), Greg Leisz (pedal steel), Darrell Leonard (trumpet), Ira Nepus (trombone) and George Bohanon (horns). Standout tracks include the opener "Nothin' But the Whole Wide World," which sets the tone of the album, the pensive ballad "Down on Our Own Shield," "Everybody's Hurting," which showcases Jakob and Neko's moving harmonies and "Truth for a Truth" that features great guitar work from Marc Ribot.

'When in Rome' - When in Love! Robbins Brothers Hosts a Surprise Red Carpet Proposal

'When in Rome' - When in Love! Robbins Brothers Hosts a Surprise Red Carpet Proposal

Fairytale Engagement of U.S. Navy SEAL to his Bride-to-Be Took Place at World Premiere of Touchstone Pictures' 'When in Rome'

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for Valentine's season, Robbins Brothers, The Engagement Ring Store(TM), gave a lucky couple an unforgettable experience last night: a one-of-a-kind surprise marriage proposal on the red carpet at a Hollywood movie premiere.

Touchstone Pictures' "When in Rome," which hits theaters nationwide on January 29, celebrated its world premiere last night at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

The groom-to-be is Chad Williams, 25, a U.S. Navy SEAL from Huntington Beach, CA. Chad proposed to his girlfriend of seven years, Aubrey O'Boyle, 23, in front of the assembled national and international media at the premiere of Disney's new date-night movie.

Stunned but overjoyed, Aubrey answered "yes" -- and is currently wearing a one-carat, round brilliant cut diamond set in a Scott Kay engagement ring, which Chad bought for her at Robbins Brothers' Mission Viejo store. The retailer will give Chad and Aubrey a gift certificate towards wedding bands in celebration of their upcoming wedding day. The couple also enjoyed a complimentary dinner from Fleming's to celebrate their engagement.

A short behind-the-scenes video documenting Chad's surprise red carpet proposal is available at Robbins Brothers' YouTube channel.

"When in Rome" stars Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel and Danny DeVito in a story about an ambitious New Yorker who is disillusioned with romance and takes a whirlwind trip to Rome. There she defiantly plucks magic coins from a fountain of love, igniting the passion of an odd group of suitors. But when a charming reporter pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing?

More about Chad and Aubrey

Coincidentally, Chad and Aubrey first met at Disneyland -- standing in line for Space Mountain. The couple has built a lasting relationship despite Chad's various deployments around the globe. Now that his contracted time with the military is coming to a close, Chad wanted to take the next step with Aubrey. He went to his local Robbins Brothers store location to shop for a diamond engagement ring, and the rest is Hollywood history.

"Aubrey stuck by my side through thick and thin," Chad wrote in an email to Robbins Brothers. "We have always wanted to get engaged and get married."

He added, "It's time to marry my Aubrey, who has been good and faithful to me, enduring so much as she has paid a huge price to our nation -- allowing me to fulfill my dream of serving as a U.S. Navy SEAL."

"This was an incredible, one-of-a-kind marriage proposal for a real-life American hero," said Larry Gomperts, EVP of Marketing for Robbins Brothers. "We were delighted to give Chad and Aubrey this unforgettable romantic experience, and would like to thank our friends at Disney who helped us make this happen."

Robbins Brothers' "Romantic Wishes -- When in Rome" Sweepstakes

Just like the movie "When in Rome," Robbins Brothers' "Romantic Wishes -- When in Rome" Sweepstakes allows romantic hopefuls to dream big and wish for the impossible.

The destination engagement ring retailer asks people to share their "ultimate romantic wish" for a chance to win fairytale prizes including a trip for two to Rome, Italy, an Amsale designer wedding dress, and a private screening of the film.

Known for helping committed couples fulfill their engagement and wedding dreams, Robbins Brothers invites every romantic to share their own fanciful wishes at www.robbinsbrothers.com. No purchase is necessary and one must be 18 years of age or older to enter.

The sweepstakes is currently running and ends Feb. 14.

About Fashion Delivers

On September 15, 2006, with only a three day notice, thirty fashion industry leaders came together to figure out how the industry could provide relief to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. While larger national relief organizations existed, there was no structure in place to organize the immediate collection and distribution of excess product to those so desperately in need. Under the leadership of Allan Ellinger, the group canvassed the retail and home industries to gauge participation. The response was overwhelming. Over $4.5 million dollars worth of product was collected and channeled directly to victims suffering from the devastation. What began as a vision has turned into an incredible charitable endeavor to provide hope to those in need.

The mission of Fashion Delivers Charitable Foundation, Inc. is to unify the men's and women's apparel and home industries to donate new product in order to aid victims of disasters and individuals in need throughout the year. We match need with our availability of product coming from both wholesale and retail fashion industry vendors -- some of the biggest names in the fashion and home industries. Through a strategic alliance with K.I.D.S., we have structured a global network of more than one thousand local agencies that we coordinate with in the donation and delivery of excess products. While our organization provides aid to those in need, we also provide economic and philanthropic alternatives for companies disposing of their excess inventory.

Ziggy Marley Presents: Dancehall Originators Vol 1.

FROM THE VAULTS OF TUFF GONG WORLDWIDE COMES A NEW COMPILATION OF ORIGINAL DANCEHALL MIXES TO BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 2, 2010 Album Includes Tracks By Chaka Demus, Yellow Man and Buju Banton, Among Others

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Multiple Grammy winning artist Ziggy Marley, and Tuff Gong Worldwide present "Dancehall Originators Vol 1," the first in a new series of dancehall reggae albums designed to pay homage to the groundbreaking original artists that paved the way for dancehall artists today. The album, which will be released on February 2nd, features tracks by Chaka Demus, Yellow Man and Buju Banton, among others (track list below).

In 1992, producer/songwriter Phillip Smart, founder of Long Island's HC&F Studios, created the scorching "Hot This Year" riddim, whose bouncy keyboard riffs and resounding bass were considered groundbreaking at the time.

From its initial release, "Hot This Year" inspired numerous other artists, including Shaggy, Yellow Man, Buju Banton, and Chaka Demus, to use it as a basis for their own songs. It also inspired the durable and popular song "Hot This Year" by the late DJ Dirtsman, which crossed over into other radio formats.

"There weren't that many reggae records that crossed over to R&B radio at the time, and Dirtsman's song went from reggae radio shows to getting airplay in regular rotation on New York stations," recalls Phillip Smart. "So that put it in a different format and the song became a favorite in clubs that didn't play a lot of reggae."

Because it so deftly illustrates such an important era of dancehall reggae history, Dancehall Originators is a must-have for any knowledgeable dancehall devotee, as well as more recent reggae converts.

The Tuff Gong label was founded in 1965 by Bob Marley, with the vision of producing, distributing and promoting his music free from the constraints of corporate label politics. Decades before artist-owned record labels were commonplace, the legendary Bob Marley's vision was characteristically well ahead of its time. Now, nearly a half-century later, his dream is being realized.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20100127/SF44526)

Wedding Themes & Inspirations:

-- Enchanted Forest: The spring bride of 2010 is inspired by the earthy
(yet heavenly) feeling of an ethereal wedding. Soft, romantic elements
and pastel tones are perfectly accented with fanciful details.
-- Sweet Nostalgia: The "Mad Men"-obsessed bride-to-be is in love with
1950s and 1960s flair for her big day, gathering inspiration from
refined-retro style, carnival-chic food and playful decor.
-- Jewel Tones: The glamorous bride loves 2010's rich jewel tones for a
luxurious fall wedding. Plush and pretty peacock inspiration is
refined in an elegant but decidedly bold new way to incorporate this
look.
-- Dark Romance: For winter 2010, vintage Hollywood glamour and dark
fairytale romances are all the rage, with rich red hues, black and
white accents and sparkling chandeliers making everything glimmer in a
subtle and sophisticated way.

Fresh Color Trends
-- Expect to see both classic and fresh, new palettes appearing as top
trends for wedding colors, including bold turquoise, coral and peach
tones, vintage violet, pumpkin, champagne, pink, ivory and golden
yellow.

The Rise of the Localista
-- In today's economy, many couples will move away from the exotic in
favor of the practical. Expect destination weddings to take on a new
twist with the rise of the "localista." This bride will plan a local
"destination wedding" at a nearby location to celebrate the unique
personality of the couple, but also allow easier access for friends
and family.

Bridal Authority's 'What's On Brides' Minds' Survey Reveals Couples Tying the Knot Still Cutting Costs

David's Bridal Finds Economy Continues to Impact Wedding Planning

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Think the busy shopping season is over? Think again! The percentage of couples who get engaged between Thanksgiving and New Years is more than any other time period, so the beginning of the year, known as Bridal Christmas, marks the busiest time to plan nuptials. And while the economy is still shaky, that's not stopping couples from taking the plunge, even if it means tightening their belts as they plan for the big day. The fourth annual "What's on Brides' Minds" survey by David's Bridal, the nation's leading and most trusted bridal authority, reveals that more than two-thirds (68%) of brides say they plan to spend less on their wedding in light of the current economic climate.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20100125/NY42302 )

While the economy is still impacting overall wedding budgets, there are some signs of improvement. In 2009, three-quarters (75%) of respondents adjusted their budgets, however this year only 68% of engaged couples say their bottom-line has decreased. In addition, more than half (54%) of today's brides revealed they do not plan to spend more than $25,000 on their wedding day, and the key to bringing that dream day to life is keeping priorities in check.

"Now more than ever, brides are looking for ways to achieve their dream weddings, while making smart purchases and staying within a tighter budget," said Robert Huth, President and CEO of David's Bridal. "As the leading national retailer trusted by more than 30% of brides, David's Bridal offers affordable and exceptional fashion, quality and value, so true love doesn't have to wait."

Wedding Planning on a Budget

Many couples are strapped for cash, so they are finding creative ways to eliminate unnecessary luxuries.

-- Budget Matters: Of the 68% of brides who adjusted their wedding
budget:
-- More than half (55%) cut up to a quarter from their total spend.
-- 14 percent say they will slash their budget in half.
-- 5 percent will have to cut it by more than three-quarters.
-- Save Me the Money: Almost one-third (30%) of respondents plan to spend
less than $10,000 on their big day, while only 22% have a total
wedding budget over $50,000.
-- Cutting Cost Corners: Almost half (46%) of brides-to-be said they'd
cut their guest list and 39% said they will likely spend less on the
venue/location. 39% also indicated the wedding planner would get the
boot.
-- No Compromises: When asked what items they refuse to compromise, the
top responses were wedding bands (42%) and, not surprisingly, the
wedding dress (35%).
-- Saving for the Ever After: Last year's survey revealed that other than
their wedding, 77% of recently engaged couples said their top economic
priority was to pay off debt. This year, barely one in five (19%)
ranked this as a leading concern. Today's brides seem to be happily
looking to the future, opting instead to save for a down payment on a
home (24%) and prepare for a family (21%).

Finding "The One" - The Dress, That Is!

Buying a wedding dress is a big decision, and with limited funds, brides can find their gown without sacrificing style and quality for price.

-- The "A-Ha" Moment: Almost all (90%) respondents agreed that it's
important to try dresses on in their size, so they can better envision
their big day look and have that "I just know it's THE one" moment.
-- Beautiful and Budget-Friendly: Fifty percent of brides-to-be plan to
spend less than $800 on their wedding gown and 57% say they do not
plan to ask their bridesmaids to pony up more than $150 for their
dresses.
-- Looking Beyond The Runway: More than half (54%) of future brides say a
designer's name is of little or no importance in their search for the
gown of their dreams, affirming that most opt for affordable, yet
fashionable styles that won't break the bank.
-- Celebrity Style: One-third (33%) of brides plan to emulate
celebrities' wedding gown styles with Alyssa Milano, Gisele Bunchden
and Khloe Kardashian Odom standing out for their A-list fashion sense.
-- Planning Ahead: More than one-third (36%) of brides say they began
shopping for their gown nine months before their wedding, but more
than half (56%) did not buy their gown until the big day was less than
six months away.
-- After The Party: Almost two-thirds (63%) of respondents plan to
preserve their gown for their children and 16% say they plan to sell
or donate their gown to a charity organization.

Planning for the Big Day

While planning a wedding in today's economy can be challenging, a little research and smart shopping goes a long way.

-- No Surprises: The survey revealed that 78% of brides involved their
fiance in the planning process.
-- Fifty-five percent of brides-to-be said their men are helping plan
the honeymoon and 45% lured their significant other with food,
cake or wine tastings.
-- Only one-third (33%) of grooms chose to help out with the wedding
planning.
-- Surfing the 'Net: Brides go online to do their wedding research:
-- Almost half are looking for do-it-yourself tips (47%) and
searching dress and accessory galleries for ideas (44%).
-- Thirty percent are heeding advice from other brides in online
forums.
-- Green is the New White: About half (48%) of brides say they will be
more eco-conscious in their wedding plans.
-- More than a quarter (26%) of respondents say they will use locally
sourced food or flowers during their reception; another quarter
(25%) chose to use recycled materials whenever possible.

Best Positions for Female Orgasm

Yes, Circumcised Women Can Have Orgasm as Many Times As They Want

It is RAPE to circumcise your daughter. Female Genital Mutilation or female circumcision is RAPE.

The reason for female genital mutilation among strict Christian and Islamic societies is for the control and prevention of promiscuity among girls and women. And many false reports have been circulated that circumcised women cannot have orgasm.

Most of the people and agencies peddling this lie are those selling sex toys and other products for sexual pleasures, so they will say anything to make people think they cannot enjoy sex without their products.

Uche Edochie, the MD of ZEE VIRTUAL MEDIA lied that for a woman to have Orgasm, she must not be circumcised.
What a falsehood and it was published on page 49 of the Saturday Sun of Nigeria on January 23, 2010.

The fact of life is: Yes, Circumcised Women Can Have Orgasm as Many Times As They Want.

Researches have shown that 14 out 15 women have confirmed that they still experienced full orgasm after clitoridectomy.

How you can come again and again and again?

Watch the following video and have a great sex life from now on.

'True Love Never Dies': A Novel of Modern-Day Love Affairs, Culture and History

22 Jan 2010 13:45 Africa/Lagos

'True Love Never Dies': A Novel of Modern-Day Love Affairs, Culture and History

DUBLIN, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- True Love Never Dies (published by Trafford) by Bridget Uhuegbu is an examination of the confusion and frustration that can occur between men and women as they attempt to make their true feelings known to one another.

Instructor Opara is a proud man from an accomplished family. His education, social position and upbringing have all helped to give him self-confidence and a relatively easy way with a certain type of woman. But men in his culture have never been encouraged to be open with their feelings, and this proves to be an insurmountable obstacle in his quest for the one woman he's ever truly cared for.

Most people would say that Lady Susan Goldrick was out of Instructor Opara's league, but she was interested nonetheless. However, his refusal -- or was it inability? -- to be open about his feelings left her equally immobilized. Both parties, constrained by the social boundaries in which they were raised, were never able to act on the love they both shared.

This timeless story of unrequited love will strike a chord with any reader who has ever been stymied by the numerous obstacles to love. The insight offered here into certain cultural, social and historical customs is also revealing, as it affects the way men and women relate to one another.

About the Author

Bridget Uhuegbu is a native of Nigeria, where she was a teacher at the Pennywise Commercial Institute. She has lived in Europe for a number of years now, and served for a time as a public relations officer with the Union of Nigerians in Ireland, serving as the President of the Union on relief bases. ABSOLUT and Spike Jonze Premiere I'm Here at Sundance Film Festival

Stockholm, Sweden/Park City, United States, January 21 /PRNewswire/ — Acclaimed filmmaker Spike Jonze premieres his latest work - I'm Here, a 30-minute short film - today at the Sundance Film Festival as part of the first-ever Opening Night's Shorts Program at the festival. The film is a collaboration with ABSOLUT VODKA, and the partnership acknowledges the brand's position as a pioneering and culture-shaping brand. ABSOLUT has always stood out in the marketplace as a groundbreaking company that has been supporting artists for decades. Previous collaborations include those with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Helmut Newton. I'm Here honors the brand's history while embarking on a new and innovative alliance with one of today's most original filmmakers. The film came about when ABSOLUT reached out to Jonze to make a film, and gave him creative control to create the film he wanted.

"It was a pretty incredible opportunity," says Jonze. "They (ABSOLUT) didn't give me any requirements to make a movie that had anything to do with vodka. They just wanted me to make something that was important to me, and let my imagination take me wherever I wanted. And it wasn't like working with some huge corporation where I had to meet with committees of people. It was just a small group, and it seemed like creativity and making something that affected them emotionally was the only thing that really mattered to them. I got to make my first love story. It's about the relationship between two robots living in Los Angeles". I'm Here will also screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February, followed by a global release in March on www.imheremovie.com. View the teaser trailer at the official film site www.imheremovie.com.

"Since its inception, ABSOLUT VODKA has been driven by creativity, and together with Spike Jonze we set a new standard for creative collaborations," says Anna Malmhake, Vice President Global Marketing at The Absolut Company. "Spike Jonze is one of the most important influencers of modern popular culture, and this 30-minute film subtly and artfully expresses our enduring commitment to collaborations and creativity."

I'm Here, a 30-minute short film by Spike Jonze. Featuring Andrew Garfield and Sienna Guillory in the lead roles. The soundtrack includes original music by Sam Spiegel and original songs by L.A.-based art musician Aska Matsumiya and other emerging musicians.

Movie Commentary: PUNCTURED HOPE

16 Jan 2010 03:45 Africa/Lagos

Movie Commentary: PUNCTURED HOPE

SANTA MONICA, CA, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The last scheduled screening of PUNCTURED HOPE in Los Angeles is taking place tomorrow, January 16th @ 11:00 AM at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica (2nd Street and Santa Monica Blvd.). Academy Awards(R) members, in particular, are urged to attend. A Q&A period with Director Bruno Pischiutta and Producer Daria Trifu will follow the movie.

PUNCTURED HOPE is an English language feature film shot entirely in Africa. The actors are all professional Ghanaian and Nigerian actors. The motion picture showcases one of the best and most accurate representations of the African Black Magic displayed on film. Tomorrow's screening gives the chance to more Los Angeles residents to see this unique and powerful film. They will also have the chance to see the African style of acting, which is, of course, very different from the Hollywood one.

Until today, this film's viewers generally agree that the direction (Bruno Pischiutta) is spectacular and brilliant; the photography (Carmelo Dodaro) is excellent, the editing (Bruno Pischiutta) is impeccable and the music score (David Brandstatter) is monumental. The incredible interpretation of Belinda Siamey, leading actress, is unforgettable. Actor Ruffy Samuel Quansah, one of the lead male actors in the film, is a 2009 African Movie Academy Awards Nominee. Quansah and many of the actors playing in PUNCTURED HOPE were students of the Toronto Pictures Film Academy of Ghana prior to joining the cast of the film.

PUNCTURED HOPE is an Academy Awards(R) Qualified Feature Film for nomination consideration as 'Best Picture'.

Already nominated by the Political Film Society as Best Film Expose & Best Film on Human Rights of 2009, PUNCTURED HOPE stands in great company alongside films such as INVICTUS, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, AVATAR, THE YOUNG VICTORIA, DISTRICT 9, THE HURT LOCKER, THE INFORMANT, THE COVE, STATE OF PLAY, A WOMAN IN BERLIN.

An excerpt from the "Movie Commentary: PUNCTURED HOPE" article written today by Monica of A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MONICA!! Blog: (... This film is here to wake us up, as you watch it you keep thinking that this is maybe a memoir of an event of a cruel tradition that existed many, many years ago. Deep down you wish, it was one of those historic films, but unfortunately it's not. You will not walk out as the same person that walked in; if you are anything like me you will be wanting to take action to help abolish something so cruel. ...) LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the winners of the 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards earlier this evening. The star-studded ceremony was hosted by Kristin Chenoweth at the Hollywood Palladium and aired live on VH1. The Hurt Locker was named the year's Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow won Best Director honors.

Avatar was another big winner with a record six Critics' Choice Movie Awards for Best Action Movie, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Cinematography for Mauro Fiore, Best Art Direction for Rick Carter and Robert Stromberg, and Best Editing for Stephen Rivkin, John Refoua and James Cameron. Jeff Bridges was honored with the award for Best Actor for his role in Crazy Heart, while Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia) and Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) tied in the lead actress category.

Christoph Waltz was honored with the Best Supporting Actor award for his work in Inglourious Basterds, the film that was also honored for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Original Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino. Best Supporting Actress honors went to Mo'Nique for Precious and Best Young Actor/Actress went to Saoirse Ronan for The Lovely Bones. Up won Best Animated Feature and Best Comedy went to The Hangover.

Renowned actor and philanthropist Kevin Bacon was honored with the third annual Joel Siegel Award presented by Meryl Streep. The BFCA created this award to honor those in the film community whose actions demonstrate that the greatest value of celebrity is the ability to do good work for others. This special award pays homage to beloved "Good Morning America" film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel, who passed away in 2007.

The 15th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards also included a special tribute to American film director and producer John Hughes, who passed away in August, 2009. In honor of Hughes' life and cinematic achievements, John Krasinski and Amy Poehler presented a poignant tribute followed by a musical performance from Death Cab For Cutie who played "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from "The Breakfast Club" soundtrack.

Nominees in attendance included: Kathryn Bigelow, Ryan Bingham, Neill Blomkamp, Emily Blunt, Jeff Bridges, T-Bone Burnette, Sandra Bullock, James Cameron, Bradley Cooper, Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Lee Daniels, Peter Doctor, Vera Farmiga, Tom Ford, Morgan Freeman, Heather Graham, Woody Harrelson, Jae Head, Ed Helms, Nick Hornby, Anna Kendrick, Diane Kruger, Bailey Madison, Paul McCartney, Christian McKay, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Mo'Nique, Julianne Moore, Carey Mulligan, Kenny Ortega, Jason Reitman, Jeremy Renner, Saoirse Ronan, Eli Roth, Gabourey Sidibe, Meryl Streep, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Tucci, and Christoph Waltz.

Presenters at the gala included: Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Emily Blunt, Cedric the Entertainer, Bradley Cooper, Rob Corddry, Abbie Cornish, Claire Danes, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Vera Farmiga, Heather Graham, Ed Helms, Samuel L. Jackson, Ken Jeong, Adam Lambert, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tobey Maguire, Tracy Morgan, Amy Poehler, Craig Robinson, Zoe Saldana, Susan Sarandon, Sarah Silverman, and Meryl Streep.

The show featured Nick Jonas & The Administration as this year's house band.

The 240 members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the largest film critics' organization in the United States and Canada, representing television, radio and online critics, selected nominees in each of 25 categories. The awards are bestowed annually to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Eligible films were released in 2009. The accounting firm of Gregory A. Mogab tallied the written ballots. Historically, the Critics' Choice Movie Awards are the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.
